He married Margaret ROBERTSON at Imperial Hotel in Dunedin, Otago, on 30 April 1867.14,15,16,17 He was registered from 1868 to 1876 on the electoral roll at Otago.13 He made a will in Lawrence, Otago, on 4 November 1869.18
Alexander died on 16 April 1878 at Lawrence, Otago, at age 36 of pneumonia.19,20,21 Alexander's will was probated on 30 April 1878. Margaret ROBERTSON served as executor.18 He was buried on 10 July 1878 at the Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrence.22,19
