She married James McKECHIE, son of Thomas McKECHIE and Christina Penman HUNTER, in New Zealand in 1934.1

She was widowed at age 78 on the death of her husband James on 1 February 1987.4,5

Vida died on 5 December 2000 at Christchurch Hospital in Christchurch, Canterbury, at age 91.6,7 She was cremated at the Green Island Cemetery on 8 December 2000, after a service at St Margaret's Presbyterian Church, Green Island.8 Her ashes were interred at Dunedin, Otago.7
