Mary Rouse

(1799 - 1883)
Mary Rouse was born in England on 13 January 1799.1

She married Jonathan Hassall, son of Rowland Hassall and Elizabeth Hancox, at St John's Church in Parramatta, New South Wales, on 22 November 1819. This was one part of the 'triple wedding' of the 3 Hassall siblings.1

Mary died on 15 December 1883 at 'Berkshire Park' in New South Wales at age 84.1 She was buried in December 1883 at the St Matthew's in Windsor.1

Elizabeth Rowe was born in Bermondsey, London, Middlesex, on 19 April 1888.2,3 She was baptised in Bermondsey, London, Surrey, on 20 May 1888, the daughter of Arthur George and Sarah Alice ROWE.4

She married George William Evans, son of Daniel Evans and Laura Susan Snow, at St Paul in Bermondsey, London, Middlesex, on 25 December 1907.1

She was listed in the 1921 census at 21 Leyton Square in Camberwell, London, Middlesex, with her husband George; he was a shutter fixer. Their children Rose and Albert were listed as living with them.3

Stanley and Robin returned to London on the Hakozaki Maru from Gibraltar, arriving on the 23 January 1928 with their parents Stanley and Mignonette.2

Stanley and Robin left London for Bombay on the 9 May 1930 on board the Cormorin with their parents Stanley and Mignonette.4

Stanley and Robin returned to London on the Cormorin from Bombay, arriving on the 22 September 1932 with their mother Mignonette.2

He enlisted in the Royal Marines as a Boy Bugler (PO/X5136) at the age of 13 years, 11 mths, 2 days on 13 October 1941 at Bristol, Bristol.5
He served on HMS Howe through WWII in Arctic convoy duty and then with the British Pacific fleet. After his boy's service he changed over to other ranks and served with the Royal Marine Commandos in various parts of the world until 1956.6

After leaving the Royal Marines he followed further careers in electronics and personnel management.6

Robin died on 29 July 2013 in England at age 85.7

His will was probated in England on 5 March 2014.7

Stanley Ernest Rowe was born in Sandakan on 12 November 1899.4,5
He served as a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military Academy before being promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Regmt of Artillery (RGA) (18 November 1917).6
He was listed in the 1921 census at 30 Thomas St in Woolwich, Kent, where he was a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military Academy.5

Stanley's marriage to Mignonette Kathleen Jean Duff Stevens, daughter of Cecil Robert Stevens MD, FRCS and Catherine Duff, was registered between January 1923 and March 1923 in St George Hanover Sq, London, Middlesex.1,2

Stanley's career in the British Army and the family's frequent travels are indicative of his postings abroad. As a result, most of the children are believed to have been born overseas.7
