William Adam was born in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, on 3 March 1787.4,3 and was baptised on 17 March 1787 in Kilsyth.4,3

He married Agnes Hood in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, on 27 May 1812.5,6

He was listed in the 1841 census at Town Head in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, with his wife Agnes; he was a flesher. Their children Matthew, Mary, William and Katherine were listed with them.7

He was widowed at age 54 on the death of his wife Agnes on 31 October 1841.8

William's second marriage was to Ann McFarlane on 8 February 1842 at Parliamentary Rd Chapel in Barony, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.9

He was listed in the 1851 census as Head of Family at Waters Land in Kilsyth, Stirlingshire, with his wife Ann; he was a butcher. Their children Barbara, Ann and James were listed as living with them.10

He was widowed on the death of his wife Ann before 1854.

William's third marriage was to Mary Borland on 19 December 1854 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire.11

William died on 13 April 1876 at McPhersons Land in Whifflet, Lanarkshire, at age 89 of bronchitis. The informant was his daughter Elisabeth.12

He married Mary Blair in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, on 23 December 1855.4,5,6

He emigrated to Kansas in 1879 and at his death left 10 children - two in Scotland and eight in the USA.7

William died on 10 September 1895 in Parkerville, Morris Co., Kansas, at age 69.7,6 He was buried in September 1895 at the White City Cemetery.4
