Margaret Emma (Daisy) Hampson

(1884 - 1976)
Father*William Spencer Hampson b. 1859, d. 1920
Mother*Emma Louisa Heywood b. 1857, d. 1935
Margaret Emma (Daisy) Hampson was born in North Shore, Auckland, on 8 January 1884.1,2
The siblings Margaret, Ethel, Martin and Lillian were listed in the 1891 census in Victoria, James Bay Ward, British Columbia, with their parents, William Spencer Hampson and Emma Louisa Heywood.3

Her paternal grandmother Margaret Spencer had become an evangelist of some fame, and after touring in Australia and New Zealand had gone to California and re-married, while continuing her calling. She had prospered sufficiently to sponsor Daisy on a trip to California, where she arrived in 1911 on the Aorangi.

Daisy also claimed (as did all the HAMPSONs) to be descended from King Edward III - this unlikely assertion has since been proven to be true (for the proof see the page 'A Royal Connection?').4,5,6

She married David Ernest Hansen CMG, son of Lars Hansen and Mary Ann Hastie, in Christchurch, Canterbury, on 30 August 1916.7,8,9

Margaret, as the step-mother of the bride, attended Ivall Moira (Mollie) Hansen and Morris Morell Macdonald's wedding at St Marks Church in Opawa, Christchurch, Canterbury, on 20 October 1934.10,11
Wedding of Morris MACDONALD and Ivall (Mollie) HANSEN 22 Oct 1934, Christchurch

She was widowed at age 88 on the death of her husband David on 30 December 1972.12,13,14,15

Margaret died on 4 October 1976 in Christchurch, Canterbury, at age 92.16,13 She was buried at the St Paul's Churchyard in Papanui.13
