He married Ann E Osborn at the residence of Mr Josiah Renick in Oakland, Pickaway, Ohio, on 24 October 1850.4

He was listed in the 1850 US census in Truro, Franklin, Ohio, with his wife Ann; he was a Presbyterian preacher, and their house was valued at $500. His children Sarah and William were listed as living with him.3

He was listed in the 1860 US census in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, with his wife Ann; he was an OSP Clergyman, and they were living in a house of $3500 value with possessions valued at $3000. Their children Josiah, Ralph, Alexander and Annie were listed as living with them, as was a servant girl, and the children of his first marriage, Sarah and William.5

Josiah died on 29 May 1863 in Ohio at age 48.1 He was buried at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus.6
