He must have returned to Hong Kong shortly thereafter, as he was interned by the Japanese after their takeover of Hong Kong in Dec 1941.^5,6

He married Peggy Christine Sharp, daughter of Eric William Sharp and Christine Martha Lenfestey, at Stanley Civilian Internment Camp in Hong Kong on 1 June 1943.^7,6
