Sarah Ann Holman was born in Isle of Wight, Hampshire, on 10 February 1851.^1,2 She was baptised at Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Newport, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, on 8 July 1856 at the same time as her siblings Caroline, Walter and George.²

Sarah's marriage to William Augustus Wicks, son of William Poulter Wicks and Sarah Elizabeth Buckingham, was registered between January 1881 and March 1881 in Portsea, Hampshire. Despite William's use of the name Weston, he reverted to Wicks for his marriage.³
She was listed in the 1881 census at 21 Kingston Cres in Portsea Island, Hampshire, in the household of her parents James (a retired outfitter) and Caroline. Her brothers James and William were also present.⁴
She was listed in the 1891 census, boarding at 96 Gough St in Tower Hamlets, Poplar, London, Middlesex, with her husband (claiming to be called Augustus William Weston) and son Percy.⁵

She was widowed at age 47 on the death of her husband William on 28 January 1899.⁶

She was appointed executrix of William Augustus Wicks's estate in Glasgow on 27 June 1899.⁷
She was listed in the 1901 census at 49 Campbell Rd in Portsmouth, Hampshire, living with her mother Caroline and brother Samuel. Her son Percy Bernard was also part of the household.⁸

She was listed in the 1911 census as Head of Family at 9 Grove Rd in Nth Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire; her boarding-house kept a servant, two visitors and four boarders at the time of the census.¹⁰

She was listed in the 1921 census at 33 Pelham Rd in Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire.¹¹

Sarah died on 13 June 1931 at St Mary's Hospital in Portsmouth, Hampshire, at age 80.¹²

Her will was probated in London on 24 August 1934 with Percival Bernard Weston Wicks appointed administrator of effects of £215.¹²

Sydney Richard Holmes was born in Hokitika, Westland, on 26 September 1886.^1,2

He married Florence Rebecca Williams, daughter of William (Bill, also Samuel) Williams and Sarah Ann Shimpleton, at St Saviour's Church in Brunnerton, Westland, on 24 February 1916.^1,3

Sydney died on 25 March 1962 in Palmerston North at age 75.^1,4,5 He was buried on 28 March 1962 at the Kelvin Grove Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium in Palmerston North.⁴

William Fairley Holmes was born in Blantyre, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, in 1943.¹

William George Holmes was born in England circa 1875. This birth date is based on his age at death, but unfortunately there are several English births in the 1873-4 timeframe that match his name.

He married Mary Elizabeth Robinson, daughter of Friend William (Fred) Robinson and Susannah Elizabeth Barron, in Queensland on 9 October 1895.¹

She was the daughter of James HOPE (1844) and Susannah Caroline HARDING (1849) and was the seventh of 10 children (David Thomas 1872, Annie Jane 1873, William James 1875, George Arthur 1878, Lucy 1880, Susan 1882, Flora 1885, Agnes 1888 and Walter 1890).^1,2

She married Francis Baldwin (Frank) Macdonald, son of Thomas Morell Macdonald and Charlotte Clements Forsaith, in New Zealand in 1906. It is believed there was no issue from this marrriage; it is also unclear how they met and whether the HOPE family had migrated to New Zealand from Tasmania.^3,4

She was widowed on the death of her husband Francis on 28 August 1915.^5,6

Elsie's second marriage was to Albert Edwin Jeffrey on 28 June 1919 at Cairns Memorial Manse, Powlett St in East Melbourne, Victoria.⁷

She signed a will dated 2 May 1922, appointing her husband executor and sole beneficiary.⁸

Elsie died on 16 January 1925 in Brunswick East, Melbourne, Victoria.^8,9 She was buried on 19 January 1925 at the Fawkner Crematorium & Memorial Park in Fawkner.¹⁰

Her will was probated in Melbourne, Victoria, on 21 February 1925 with Albert Edwin Jeffrey appointed executor with her estate valued at no more than £345 of real estate and no more than £100 of personal estate.⁸
