Father*Alexander McGREGOR3,2 b. c 1760, d. 1821
Mother*Margaret McFARLANE2 b. c 1761, d. 1840
Christy McGREGOR was born in Fortingall, Perthshire, circa November 1798.2 and was baptised on 13 December 1799 in Fortingall.4,2

She married John FERGUSSON, son of Thomas FERGUSSON and Christian DOUGLASS, in Innerhadden, Rannoch, Perthshire, on 6 December 1820. His son John, in his submission to the Records of the Clan Fergusson (1895) stated that "In the year 1820, when he was building Muir Lodge (his first contract after his apprenticeship), he made the acquaintance of Christina, eldest daughter of Alexander Macgregor, Inverhadden, ruling elder of the Established Church, Kinloch, whom he subsequently married in the end of February or the beginning of March 1821" (although this date is clearly suspect).5,4,6

She was listed in the 1841 census at Balmore in Logierait, Perthshire, with her husband John; he was a mason. Their children Christian, Ewen, Janet and Mary were listed with them.7

She was listed in the 1851 census at Balmore in Logierait, Perthshire, with her husband John; he was a mason. Their children Jane, Janet, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth and Catherine were listed as living with them.8
She was listed as the mother of Alexander FERGUSSON in the 1861 Census at Middleton Farm in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire.9

She was widowed on the death of her husband John on 15 March 1866.10,3,4

She was not listed in the 1871 census as Head of Family in Blair Atholl, Perthshire; but the rest of the census entry is set out relative to her status as Head of a family unit, which is how we represent the other entries here. Her children Jane and Ann were listed as living with her, as were her grand-children (by Jane), namely Jean WILLIAMSON and Christian WILLIAMSON and Donald FERGUSSON.11

She was listed in the 1881 census as Head of Family at Struan cottage in Blair Atholl, Perthshire; she called herself 'a masons widow'. Her children Jane and Ann were listed as living with her, as were her grandsons Donald FERGUSSON and Ewen (or Hugh) CUMMING and they were all classified as Gaelic speakers.12

Christy died on 14 October 1887 at Struan cottage in Blair Atholl, Perthshire.4,13 She was buried at the the Churchyard of the 'Established Church' in Kinloch Rannoch.4
