He married Eliza Hanham at the Parish Church in Bridport, Dorset, on 27 September 1838. He was a builder, son of George PALMER (mariner) and she was a dress-maker, daughter of William HANHAM (labourer).1,3

Richard died before September 1849, probably in New Zealand, given his wife Eliza re-married there.
