She was listed in the 1871 census at 131 Arnfield St in St John, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, with her husband Alexander; he was a livestock agent, and their home had four rooms with windows. Their children Janet, John, James, Duncan, Ewen, Alexander and Angus were listed as living with them, as was Elizabeth's sister Margaret Stewart.⁶

Elizabeth died on 13 May 1875 at 25 Bellgrove St in Dennistoun, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, at age 44 of 'disease of the lungs'. The informant was her husband Alexander.⁷

She married Ewen (or Hugh) Cumming, son of John Cumming and Jane (Jean) Fergusson, in Easter Dunfallandy, Logierait, Perthshire, on 16 December 1904. He was a farm manager, she was a domestic servant (cook), the daughter of Robert STEWART and Janet LIVINGSTONE.¹
