William Corbin was born in Hampreston, Dorset, circa 1835.1 He was baptised in Hampreston, Dorset, on 8 March 1835, father John CORBIN and mother Jane (although she is subsequently listed as Ann in census records).2
He was listed in the 1841 census in Kinson, Canford, Dorset, in his parent's household, where his father John was a dairyman.3

He married Elizabeth Walters, daughter of Jethro Walters and Jane Hall, at the Parish Church in Wimborne, Upwey, Dorset, on 7 March 1859. William was described as yeoman, as was his father John, and Elizabeth's father was Jethro WALTERS, mason.4
