He was listed in the 1841 census at Church St, Tower Hamlets in St Matthews Green, Middlesex, with his wife Mary; he was a printer. Their child John was listed with them.10

He was listed in the 1851 census as Head of Family at Bethnal Green in Tower Hamlets, Middlesex, with his wife Mary; he was a printer, employing four men. Their children John and William were listed as living with them, as was a servant, and one Sarah WHITE (annuitant).11

He was listed in the 1861 census as Head of Family at 118 Printer's St in Bethnal Green, London, Middlesex, with his wife Mary; he was a letter-press printer, employing five men and ten boys; an apprentice compositor was also living in the household. Their child John was listed as living with them.12

He was listed in the 1871 census as Head of Family at 2 Victoria Rd in Gravesend, Kent, with his wife Mary; he was a Master Printer; the household included Mary's niece Annie STOKES (a teacher), who was born in Jamaica.13

John died on 31 July 1883 at 28 Darnley Rd in Gravesend, Kent, at age 78.2,1,14,15 He was buried at the Gravesend Cemetery in Gravesend.2

John was trained as a letterpress printer and William as a Lithographic printer. He jointly succeeded to the Forsaith printing business on his father's retirement in 1874, when the company became Forsaith Brothers.7
He was listed in the 1861 census at 118 Printer's St in Bethnal Green, London, Middlesex, in the household of his parents, John Smyth Forsaith and Mary Ann Stokes, working as a compositor, presumably in his father's print works.8

He married Sarah Esther Roberts at St John of Jerusalem in Hackney, London, Middlesex, on 8 February 1866.1,9,10

He was listed in the 1871 census as Head of Family at 329 Bethnal Green Rd in Hackney, London, Middlesex, with his wife Sarah; he was a Master Printer, employing ten men and eight boys. Their children Sarah, John and Arthur were listed as living with them.11

He was listed in the 1881 census as Head of Family at 31 Southborough Rd in Hackney, London, Middlesex, with his wife Sarah; he was a Master printer, now employing eleven men and nine boys. Their children Sarah, John, Arthur and Emma were listed as living with them.4

John Stokes Forsaith and William Valentine Forsaith were appointed executors of John Smyth Forsaith's estate in London on 10 October 1883.12

After the death of his brother William in 1889, John then formed a partnership with his son John Benjamin under the name of J S Forsaith and Son.7

He was listed in the 1891 census as Head of Family at 31 Southborough Rd in Hackney, London, Middlesex, with his wife Sarah; he was a Master printer. Their children Sarah, John, Arthur and Emma were listed as living with them.13

He was widowed at age 55 on the death of his wife Sarah on 16 January 1895.1,14

He was listed in the 1901 census as Head of Family at 31 Southborough Rd in Hackney, London, Middlesex. His children John, Arthur, Emma and Sarah were listed as living with him.15

John died on 7 July 1902 at 329 Bethnell Green Rd in Hackney, London, Middlesex, at age 62.1,16,17

His will was probated in London on 11 September 1902 with John Benjamin Forsaith and Arthur William Forsaith appointed executors of effects valued at £2704/10/4.17

The siblings Doris and John were listed in the 1921 census at 31 Old Park Rd in Southgate, London, Middlesex, with their parents, John Benjamin Forsaith and Sarah Lilian Hall.5

He entered the Forsaith printing company in 1931 from the London School of Printing and was made a director in 1934. He was in charge of the Executive, Costing and Selling arms of the business in 1938.6

He was listed in the 1939 Register at 92 The Mall in Southgate, London, Middlesex, along with Sarah Lilian Hall; he was a master printer (managing director) and voluntary ARP warden.3

He married Mary Joyce Blaver in Edmonton, Middlesex, on 12 April 1941.1,7

Elected President of the London Master Printer's Association in May 1951.8

John died on 8 June 1992 in Exeter, Devon, at age 78.9,10
